How a hexagonal box is built

Six equal side panels form a hexagonal tube, closed by a hexagonal lid hinged from one panel and a hexagonal base hinged from the opposite panel, with small dust flaps on the other sides.

Putting it together

  1. 1Glue the side seam to form the six-sided tube.
  2. 2Fold the base dust flaps in and close the hexagonal base.
  3. 3Load the product, fold the top dust flaps in and close the lid.

Measuring for this style

Length (L)
The distance across the hexagon, corner to corner. Each side panel is half of it.
Width (W)
Used for the flap depths; the hexagon is regular.
Height (H)
The inside height of the tube.

All sizes are inside dimensions. Add 1 to 2 mm of clearance around the product. How to measure

When to choose it

For gifts, candles and premium confectionery where shape stands out on shelf. For lower cost choose a square tuck carton.

Before you print

  • Six creases close together make thick boards hard to fold; 18 to 24 pt SBS works best.
  • Keep text and logos 3 mm inside every crease so folding does not crack the print.
