How a regular slotted carton is built

The regular slotted container (FEFCO 0201): four panels joined by a glued or taped manufacturer's joint, with four flaps at each end. All flaps are half the box width, so the outer (long) flaps meet in the middle.

Putting it together

  1. 1Square the flat box.
  2. 2Fold the short flaps, then the long flaps, and tape the bottom seam.
  3. 3Fill, then close and tape the top the same way.

When to choose it

The default shipping carton for almost anything. For extra stacking and crush strength choose a full overlap container; for a branded unboxing choose a mailer.

Before you print

  • Corrugated adds thickness: the outside is about two board thicknesses larger than the inside on every axis.
  • Flutes run vertically on shipping cartons for stacking strength; confirm grain direction with your converter.
  • Choose board by weight: single-wall B-flute to roughly 15 kg, double wall for heavier or stacked loads.
