How a seal end carton is built

A four-panel tube whose end flaps are glued shut rather than tucked. Major flaps on the front and back meet or overlap across the opening, with minor flaps underneath. It is the strongest and cheapest carton closure on automated lines.

Putting it together

  1. 1The packing line erects the tube and closes the bottom flaps with glue.
  2. 2The product goes in.
  3. 3The top flaps are folded and glued shut.

Measuring for this style

Length (L)
The inside width of the front panel, left to right.
Width (W)
The inside depth from front to back: the width of a side panel.
Height (H)
The inside height from the base to the top opening.

All sizes are inside dimensions. Add 1 to 2 mm of clearance around the product. How to measure

When to choose it

For cereal, frozen food and other machine-packed goods where the pack is opened once. For hand packing or a re-closable top choose a tuck end.

Before you print

  • Glue areas must stay free of varnish and ink; mark them on the artwork.
  • Add a tear strip or perforated opening if customers need an easy way in.
