How a tuck top auto-bottom is built

A tuck-top carton whose bottom is a pre-glued crash lock. Squaring the flat carton drops the bottom into place; the top closes with a tuck flap and two dust flaps.

Putting it together

  1. 1Push the flat carton open; the crash-lock bottom forms itself.
  2. 2Load the product from the top.
  3. 3Fold the dust flaps in and tuck the top closure.

Measuring for this style

Length (L)
The inside width of the front panel, left to right.
Width (W)
The inside depth from front to back: the width of a side panel.
Height (H)
The inside height from the base to the top opening.

All sizes are inside dimensions. Add 1 to 2 mm of clearance around the product. How to measure

When to choose it

For weighty retail products that also need a neat, re-closable top, such as spirits gift cartons and electronics. It is the same structure family as the auto-lock bottom.

Before you print

  • Bottom flaps are keyed to length and width; very narrow cartons shorten the minor lock flap.
  • Keep text and logos 3 mm inside every crease so folding does not crack the print.
