Custom Printing

Packaging that feels like you. Share your requirements and we will prepare a custom packaging quote. Pricing, minimum quantities, finishes and timelines are confirmed in the quote.

How quoting works

  1. 1Tell us the style, size, material and quantity.
  2. 2We check the structure and reply with options and a quote.
  3. 3You approve a digital proof, then a physical sample if you want one.
  4. 4We print, cut, glue and ship.

Tip: attach your Packaging Workshop dieline (PDF) when we reply. It saves a round of questions about size and structure.

How boxes are printed

The right method depends on how many boxes you need and the board. We recommend one in your quote and explain why.

  • Digital printing

No printing plates, so short runs and samples are economical and every box can be different. Colour is very good on SBS; ideal for launches, tests and runs of a few hundred.

  • Offset (litho) printing

Plates are made for each colour, so set-up costs more but unit costs fall quickly with quantity. The sharpest detail and most accurate colour for retail cartons in the thousands.

  • Flexographic printing

Flexible plates print directly on corrugated board. The usual choice for shipping boxes and mailers in larger runs, with bold colours and simple artwork.

Finishes

Coatings and effects

Finishes protect the print and change how a box looks and feels. Each adds cost and sometimes time, so choose the one or two that matter most.

  • Matte coating

A soft, low-glare surface that reads as calm and premium and hides fingerprints.

  • Gloss coating

Makes colours look richer and adds shine; popular for food and children’s products.

  • Soft-touch

A velvety laminate for luxury cartons and rigid wraps. It marks more easily than matte.

  • Foil

Metallic gold, silver or coloured foil for logos and accents. Use it on small areas to keep boxes recyclable.

  • Embossing and debossing

Raises or presses in part of the design so it can be felt. Works best on thicker boards.

  • Spot UV

A clear gloss highlight on selected areas, for contrast against a matte background.

  • Windows

A die-cut opening, with or without a clear film, to show the product inside.

Artwork checklist

Files that follow this list go to print without a second round of questions.

  • Artwork placed on the PW Studio dieline at 100 % scale, dieline on its own layer.
  • 3 mm bleed beyond every cut edge.
  • Text and logos at least 3 mm inside every cut and fold line.
  • Images at 300 DPI at final size; logos as vectors.
  • Colours in CMYK, with any Pantone (spot) colours named.
  • Fonts outlined or embedded.
  • Barcodes at full size, away from folds, with a light quiet zone around them.

Questions

What is the minimum order for custom printed boxes?

It depends on the print method. Digital printing suits short runs; offset and flexo become economical in the thousands. Your quote states the minimum for your box.

How long does custom box printing take?

Lead times depend on style, board, finishes and quantity, and are confirmed in the quote. Rigid boxes and special finishes take longer than plain folding cartons.

Can I get a sample before the full order?

Yes. You can approve a digital proof, and ask for a physical sample of the printed box before the run.

Do you print the inside of the box?

Yes, many styles can be printed inside and out. Ask for it in your request; it changes the print method and price.

What file should I send?

A PDF with your artwork on the PW Studio dieline, the dieline on its own layer, 3 mm bleed and fonts outlined or embedded.
